“People are and always will be the reason behind my ‘why’.

Connecting with others, capturing their visions, and learning what makes them unique is the reason I fall in love with this art over and over again.

I approach each session with curiosity, creativity, and utmost respect for my clients and what they bring to each experience. Whether it's a portrait session, a wedding, or an interiors shoot; I aim to create an atmosphere that is relaxed, fun, and collaborative. I believe that when my clients feel comfortable and confident, the best photographs emerge. You’ve spent a great deal of time and attention preparing for this, and I’m honored to work with you for it.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

INTERIORS

  • Setting up for an Interiors Shoot always takes longer than you think. A lot of equipment is required to shoot in these settings - and making sure we are on the same page at the beginning of the shoot is crucial. Because of this, I never want us to feel rushed In the process. I recommend a minimum of 4 hours is set aside to make our shoot a success.

  • A lot of factors come into play here. Asking the homeowners to be out of their space on the day of our shoot, having a housecleaner come the day before, and thinking through a shot list helps us to be most efficient with our time. We start by walking through the space together, reviewing any shot lists you’ve pulled together, and create a plan of action for the day.

If any prep needs to happen on your end prior, I recommend handling as much as you can before the shoot. Arrange flowers ahead of time, plan your styling props room by room, and always, always, err on the side of more time.

  • Absolutely! I love capturing the designer behind the work in the spaces they’ve created. Plan accordingly for this and come prepared with 1-2 outfits, makeup and an idea of what you want your photos to represent. We will build this into our plan and get you in front of the camera where it makes the most sense.

  • It’s always smart to snag behind-the-scenes footage on your phone when you have the chance, and that can mean you actively deorating/styling/setting up for our shoot. Be mindful of how you want to appear in case you get in the background of any iphone snaps.

  • These days are long, so bring food and a good playlist to keep the energy high the whole time! Taking breaks and taking our time will be key.

If there’s anyone else that might want to contribute to the shoot (local shops, florists, stylists), give them the opportunity to provide items or services in trade for sharing the photos from the day.

WEDDING

  • Having a First Look is certainly becoming the more popular choice for my clients as the benefits to having a First Look prior to the ceremony are quite extensive. The main reason clients choose this route is to complete all necessary photos before the fun gets underway. Being able to take care of not only the couples’ photos, but the bridal party and family photos as well, allows them to enjoy the events as they unfold and experience everything along with their guests. Clients also express gratitude for having a private moment with their partner to calm nerves and feel prepared for the events ahead.

  • A Traditional Look saves the big reveal for the aisle and is shared in front of all guests. Most bridal party and separate photos can still be handled prior to the ceremony, but the couples’ photos, full bridal party and all family photos will take place during the cocktail hour at a nearby location. With timing being quite tight, it is important that each person requested in the family photos is made aware prior and prepared to step aside for about 20 minutes to keep things moving smoothly.

  • I know first-hand that being in front of the camera is awkward! Most of us aren’t comfortable with this experience, and it’s my job to pose you and provide direction on interactions and such. My goal is to create environments that make you feel the most natural and comfortable - that’s what will lead to images that you’ll be happy with for years to come. I promise as the day goes on, you’ll feel less and less aware of your vulnerability and just go with the flow! Engagement photos are always a good way to practice, as well!

  • Golden Hour is a favorite of mine! I try to schedule time in at every wedding to step away for 10 to 15 minutes and catch that dreamy, glowy light as the sun sets. This happens about 1 hour prior to sunset and can be timed either during the dinner service while most guests are preoccupied, or just after the toasts take place. No matter the timing, I encourage all of my couples to prioritize this moment as they end up being everyone’s favorite images of the day. It’s a great chance to step away from the party, breathe, and reflect on the excitement that has been wrapped up in the whole day.

  • I can’t recommend a wedding planner enough! Having a wedding planner or coordinator is a GAME CHANGER. There’s no reason a family member or close friend should give up their chance to enjoy the day celebrating your love. Having a planner keeps the day running smoothly, ensures all vendors have what they need in advance, and removes day-of worries that you don’t need to be concerned with.

  • In order to capture the whole story, I love to photograph all elements that made your day special. That includes the invitations, save the date’s, perfume, you name it. I can grab these items from you ahead of time or work with your wedding planner to coordinate so that I have everything on hand on your wedding day and ready to photograph. If your florist is feeling extra, I always love to snag a few blooms to pull the whole look together in a flat lay image.

  • It is important to think about the daylight and sunrise/sunset timing for the date of your shoot. Shooting in more open, airy locations will create the light and bright look we’re going for. We don’t want to be in direct sunlight that casts harsh shadows, so it’s important to either work in shade or closer to sunset when the light casts a nice and glowy effect.

  • Timing is everything! During the summer months, I encourage these shoots to be scheduled as close to the sun setting or rising as possible. The best lighting comes within an hour of each, and gives that dreamy, glowy appearance that I love so much.

If you want to pick a location more remote or hard to get to, it’s important to work backwards and factor in the travel time. I’m always up for a drive to the beach or hike up the mountain, so let’s plan accordingly!

  • It’s helpful to work around naptimes or when your children are generally on their best behavior. Bringing a family member that has a close relationship with the kids is always a great idea as they can help provide entertainment behind the lens, and be an extra set of hands to carry a stuffed animal or snacks - which go a long way!

  • Think timeless! You want to be happy with these photos for years to come, so wardrobe should reflect a classic and timeless look. Neutral colors photograph well that aren’t too busy in print or pattern. And most importantly, it should reflect your personality and style. I’m happy to talk through ideas together, brainstorming can be helpful!

  • Looking like your best self is always the goal for these portrait sessions. Several of my past clients have shared that getting their makeup done professionally is a game-changer for their confidence in front of the camera, and results in looking put together and polished in the final images. This is by no means necessary, just a tip my clients have shared that has them feeling more prepared for the shoot!

MISC.

I know that these types of events have different needs, and I’m willing to work with you to make sure everything you need coverage for is captured. We can discuss splitting up hours and being strategic in timing to make sure you get the most covered for your needs.

  • I will always have your photos edited and handed over to you in 6 weeks or less depending on how busy my season is. I always provide you with a few sneak peeks until I’m finished with my process, just to hold you over!

  • I will share all photos with you through a private gallery online, where you have the ability to save, share, and even print right from inside. This makes it easier than ever to grant access to anyone you wish to have viewing and access rights.
