I feel quite vulnerable in sharing this image today on my birthday, but it was one I created during a personal development workshop in January and I love how it turned out.

The focus of the workshop was to write the headlines of your life as if you were the editor to your own magazine. We had to pick a Word of the Year that would become our title, and I chose Elegant as the word I wanted to embody and guide my decisions throughout the year. We worked through a series of exercises that lead us to create several headlines, below are the three that I picked for my cover.

Headline #3: Re-write an old headline in a new light

It was extra-credit to turn this work into a physical magazine cover, which I jumped at the opportunity to do. I chose a self-portrait image that I took during our mini moon in Santa Ynez that reminded me of my European adventures, and one that I felt inspired while creating in this romantic setting.

Looking back at this even a few months later, I'm proud of what I created and continue to create. This was such a powerful exercise and one that launched me into discovering what my next chapter would unfold and I can't wait to continue this journey and embrace my future ideal self.

This past year brought me a lot of growth: I became a wife, embraced a major career change and became pregnant to name a few. These are all things I have dreamt of for a long time, and I know this next year will bring even more change as we start our family and continue to design a life we love. I reflect on my past year with adoration and awe of how much my heart grew, and I only know it will continue as I embrace the role of Mother in August.
